October Snowbirds Loud, F-35 Louder Yet
Key info to keep in mind. Tom Bevers has done some sound calculations for us. The Snowbird Harriers (AV-8B) that were brought in over Tucson in October were about 4 times louder (18 db) than the A-10 and twice (9.5 db) as loud as the F-16 (220).
The F-35 will sound twice as loud perceptually as the Harrier (AV-8B). For neighbors whose homes are currently being shaken (e.g., Julia Keene), it will produce almost 10 times the physical impact on your home as the Harrier. (Figures for Snowbirds/A-10 were at 2,000 ft, taken from DM Chart.)
