The Local Military Community Relations Committee Recommends a F-35 Fly-Over
Note: Where is the City of Tucson, Pima County, the State of Arizona, and Congressional District Representatives in all this? A representative from the Tucson City Manager’s Office and two representatives from Pima County attended the January 20, 2010 MCRC meeting where the recommendation to request the F-35 fly-over was passed. They were aware of the recommendation and should have brought it back to their respective elected officials. Additionally, the MCRC needs to send their recommendation to the City, the County, the State, and Congressional officials so that their stance on the issue is clear. Letter from the MCRC Chair follows.

Re: United States Air Force F-35A Training Environmental lmpact Statement
Dear Sir:
At the January 20, 2010 Military Community Relations Committee for Tucson and Davis-Monthan AFB meeting, the committee passed by consensus the following resolution:
“The Military Community Relations Committee requests that actual noise measurement vs. modeling data be gathered in Tucson for the current EIS for the F-35A.”
For your background information, the bylaws for the Military Community
Relations Committee describe the purpose of this committee:
“The Military-Community Relations Committee (MCRC) is established as an advisory committee to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, the City of Tucson and Pima County for the purpose of providing a forum for dialogue, raising and discussing concerns, monitoring MC3 recommendations, joint problem solving, and education focusing on military and community-related issues.
The MCRC may provide consensus recommendations to D-M AFB, the City of Tucson, Pima County, the State of Arizona and other entities as appropriate.”
The membership of this committee includes neighborhood groups, business groups, non-voting advisors from the City of Tucson, Pima County, local Congressional District Representatives and Davis-Monthan AFB.
Sincerely yours,
Alice Roe
Chair
