SHOULD A LAME-DUCK MAYOR SPEAK FOR THE CITY OF TUCSON ON THE EXPANSION OF DAVIS-MONTHAN’S OPERATION SNOWBIRD?

Gulf South Announcement

The Environmental Assessment of Operation Snowbird presents four unreasonable alternatives for a military air facility located in a densely-populated urban area.

There will be two public scoping meetings where you can submit comments:

Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Sheraton Four Points Hotel
1900 E. Speedway near Campbell

Wednesday, Sept. 28th, 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Empire High School
101701 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way

It is interesting that the area to northwest of the base and the area to southeast of the base are being given equal time when there are 4Xs as many residences in the high-accident potential, high-noise zone in the area to northwest of the base. Traffic count is about equal in both areas, but most accidents occur upon landing which usually occurs in the area to northwest of Davis-Monthan.

The deadline for your written comments is October 28, 2011

The Gulf South Notice Says By Mail After the Meetings

Call 791-4700 and ask that a vote of the council be taken on the Mayor’s letter for the Environmental Assessment. Will each councilmember also be submitting a comment? Will the Mayor and Council be voting on a position on expansion of Operation Snowbird? Request a response to your question. We’ll see who supports City residents.
